The 2011 tax season is coming. Are your W-2 and Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) correct?

Do you want a hard copy of your W-2 or prefer to get it electronically? Have you changed your address in the past year? HHS Civilian employees can verify or change W-2 delivery methods by logging onto myPay. Select Turn on/off Hard Copy of W-2 from the Main Menu. You will see the current delivery method and have the option to make a change. Delivery options for your W-2 are electronic and hard copy, or electronic only. The electronic W-2 is usable for all income tax purposes and issanctioned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Select Correspondence Address from the Main Menu to verify your home address – particularly important if you elect to receive a hard copy of your W-2 through the mail.

Any changes to your W-2 information must be made no later than November 19, 2011 to be sure the updates are processed by DFAS before the W-2s are issued.

Avoid tax time headaches. Review your Leave and EarningsStatement (LES) each pay period to verify that your pay, deductions and leave balances are correct. Be certain your state tax information is correct. Most requests for amended W-2s are the result of incorrect state tax information.

Contact your designated OPDIV representative for pay and leave issues. Your servicing Human Resources Office can also assist if you believe the information on your LES is incorrect, or if you have general questions about your pay.
